Amazonia Between Two Worlds and Ayahuasca Between Two Worlds are two documentary photography projects built from thousands of snapshots taken over nearly two decades of fieldwork in the Amazon regions of Colombia, Brazil, and Peru. These photographs are the result of various ethnographic investigations: the health and migration crisis in the Javarí Valley, the daily life of the Shipibo people, the traditional plantations, the world of ayahuasca, and other projects that you can explore below.
The underlying philosophy of Between Two Worlds challenges the dominant stereotypical image: Indigenous peoples isolated from Western society, nature-loving, adorned with feathers. This myth retains its status as reality largely due to the tendency of foreign photographers to repeat clichés and the reluctance of editors and curators to disappoint audiences with a prosaic, unvarnished portrait of a region that has been connected to the global economy for centuries.
